The temples of Juno, Heracles, and Zeus (which would have been the largest Greek temple ever built), the archaeological museum, and the ancient agora paint a vivid picture of ancient Akragas, which the poet Pindar called "the most beautiful of mortal cities." The medieval old town above, with its narrow streets and Norman cathedral, adds another layer to this remarkable site.
