Travel from Philip Goldson International Airport to the beautiful Placencia Peninsula on Belize's southern coast. The drive takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours along the scenic Hummingbird and Southern Highways.
The route takes you through some of Belize's most stunning scenery — the Hummingbird Highway winds through the Maya Mountains with views of tropical forest, waterfalls, and citrus groves. After reaching the coast at Dangriga, you continue south to the Placencia Peninsula.
Placencia is a 16-mile long peninsula with white-sand beaches, crystal-clear Caribbean water, and a relaxed village atmosphere. It's the gateway to the Belize Barrier Reef, Silk Cayes, whale shark viewing (seasonal), and the Cockscomb Basin jaguar preserve. The village has excellent restaurants, beach bars, and a famous sidewalk — said to be the narrowest main street in the world.
